What Makes A Good Humidor

There are two main factors that all good humidors incorporate, and it is important that you select one with the correct requirements to store and protect your cigars.

First the interior lining - it should preferably be made of Spanish cedar or mahogany. The market used to consist of most humidors having a Spanish cedar interior but mahogany is becoming a popular and very acceptable alternative.

Secondly, the next important feature to look for is the seal between the lid and the rim of the box. It should be a good tight seal. I often read that the most important part of a humidor is the humidification element. However, it is actually the only component than can be replaced, therefore, it is more important to have a good seal, for without that, even the best humidification element will not keep the cigars at the correct humidity.
